*Since June 2024, the digital nomad visa eligibility has been expanded to non-IT / digital talents.
The Digital Nomad Visa (DE Rantau Nomad Pass) is a Malaysia long-stay visa for freelancers and remote workers.
DE Rantau programme is managed by the Malaysian government agency called MDEC (Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation) and announced on 1 October 2022.
Residence permission can be granted for 3 - 12 months. It is also renewable for 12 months.
Dependant passes available for spouse, common-law partner, parents of the main applicant and children.

The required annual income is USD 24,000 and above.

A. Currently, you can only stay in West Malaysia and Federal Territory of Labuan. Visiting Sabah and Sarawak is permitted with a tourist pass.
A. Normally, it takes around 6-8 weeks, with additional time required if MDEC requests additional information or documentation. For our clients, it took about 4-5 months from the time of application.
A. If the application is rejected, you can appeal by submitting another supporting document and other relevant information within 1 month from the date of rejection. If the application is rejected, 50% of the application fee (RM1,000 for the main applicant and RM500 for the dependant) will be refunded.
A. You can apply for renewal 2 months before your Digital Nomad Visa expires. The process will take 6-8 weeks.
