I am Toshiki Ashikaga, the CEO & Managing Director of IKI LINKS Group.
I began my journey in Johor Bahru in April 2014, and it's hard to believe that 10 years have already passed. Initially, I planned to stay for just a few years, but now life in Malaysia has become indispensable to me. I believe this reflects the overall ease and quality of life that Malaysia offers.
My professional path in Malaysia started with a position at a real estate company. Later, I carried out a management buyout (MBO) of the company and have been expanding the business as the owner since 2016. Before moving to Malaysia, I was a salaried employee in Japan, and I never imagined I would one day be leading a company. However, I believe it was fate that brought me to this role.
The past 10 years in Malaysia have been filled with challenges and difficulties.
At the company I joined, we sold overseas real estate to many Japanese clients. Communicating with local developers and lawyers was often challenging. Additionally, stabilizing a business overseas involved numerous struggles and setbacks.
Even now, I continue to face challenges and make mistakes. However, I believe it’s crucial to confront problems head-on rather than avoiding them. By doing so, I’ve gained more colleagues and have found that both my business activities and family life in Malaysia have become increasingly fulfilling.
The corporate message of IKI LINKS Group, "Shift Your Lifestyle," was born out of my own experience of transformation and the ongoing enrichment of my life.
